BOOKED

I turned some of my work into a book a little while back. Mainly because I had all these pages of different things (writing, drawings, photos, paintings) and I figured that none of them were particularly interesting on their own, but together they made a whole lot more sense. There was a collective relationship between all the elements that expressed far more than the individual parts. I liked that.

Also, nothing has to stick up for itself too much. Safety in numbers. That kind of thing.

2(B+W)

Fairly self-explanatory - some shots from my second roll of successful black and white film.
That's about all I guess.

IIIIII'll... post some images of the books I'm making with these shots and a range of other stuff later. As in after I've got my shit together.

(You could be waiting a while.)

B+W

I just finished writing this whole post... and then the internet crashed and now it's all gone. WHICH IS FUNNY, because this post is for my recently developed black and white SLR film, which had followed a 5 month string of consecutive film failures, for reasons directly related to my inexperience and stupidity. Anyway, just as I was about to give up, this film worked. I re-cropped some of these. Obviously. POST-IT.

I was looking through past post-its.

Post hourly comic project phase two.

This is a selection from the start of the year. Many of them weren't completely finished. I picked a few of the better ones to post up here.

Yeah, I'm posting on this post. I.T. style.

ASSORTED OTHERS.

There's an array of photos dating all the way back from February to just recently that I've wanted to put up, but don't really fit anywhere or deserve their own post. So here's a collection of odds and ends. Bits and pieces. Assorted others.

From the studios...

MORE IMAGES

Still sifting through the backlog of photos and posts I've been neglecting these past few months.
More to come.

These are from the last of my disposable cameras I got developed a little while ago.

WHO KNOWS? NORBERT NOSE.

I've got history class tomorrow.

I'll sit there.
I'll listen.
But first and foremost I'll be mesmerised by our lecturer's gangly hands, sweeping gestures, manner of speech and unfathomable intellect.

Then I'll draw him.

UNENTERTAINING INTERLUDES

Had our first group tute of the semester one week ago from yesterday. We had to spend the entire day discussing each other's work. Collective delirium set in at about 3:00pm. Luckily I was first of the day.

Here's what I had to show for myself:

Quite appropriate to the implications of the work, this piece fell off the wall five days after it was installed.

The text in both works came from reading down the page of a novel, rather than across, and finding phrases with alternative meanings or implications.

I'm interested in how we read and interpret images, and how alternative perceptions can easily be created with the slightest changes in presentation and context.

There are a lot of photos out there that depict the romantic notion of the reclusive artist in their studio. Covered in paint. Surrounded by canvases. A skull on their desk. Piles of books littering the floor. And an underlying understanding that this person is special. This person is different. A genius in their own right.

Yeah, well, this is mine:

I eat.

Thank you to Esteban for that insightful entry into the mysterious world of the 'artist'.
(I know these aren't drawings, but I'm that's what I'm tagging them as, because I don't have an 'art' tag. Work with me here.)
